MY journey back to CHAKA...

For the last week, i have been practically obsessed with going natural. it's something that i have been thinking about for last 2 years but never went through with it. however, after living with my in laws for almost a year now. i got an urge to jump into the thick luscious and perfumed curls of the naural world to see how i would fair.

Not to be confused, i have been in transition for over 6 months now. But as of late, i had not done any research into going about it. You see my hair when i was in middle school was long and fantastic like chaka khan or tina turner or dina ross. but i got a perm once! once mind you and without guidence, my hair broke off. i've been keping up with it, doing well too. especially since, i was put to the test after i moved to new york. Oiling and braiding my hair, after vigoroling it(which is still say is the best form of relaxer, but it's almost, well, it's really REALLY hard to find). anyways....

i'm getting fully commmitted to going natural. right now, currently not working, and just looking after my son. i'm loosing a sense of self and identity. SO, time to reinvent myself and see who i am now and go forward accordingly.

As of right now, i have bought no new hair stuff. Just making lists of things. Completely obsessed as i said earlier with going natural and getting great advice and solice on a great website called www.curlynikki.com.

i'm getting great hair recipes, which i love and tips on care. love that place. besides, it's nice to feel like you have a cool community of curly ladies to help you along your journey with their own stories and pictures for inspiration or instruction...or just to look at awesome hair! LOL!

but along with my hair journey, i'm looking for new and tasty ways to be healthy. i love to cook. my normal diet before i moved in with my in laws was jennie-O( i am an avid turkey gurkey(which stands for turkey girl)) anything, fish( especially tilapia and salmon), veggies...fruit. well, you get what i'm getting at. however, boy, oh boy, my in laws bring back all kinds of tasty, buttery, creme laidened foods and i've been only too happy to eat them. but i want to get back to more of how i'm used to eating and i've stumbled across some awesome sites with pretty nice recipes like detoxinista.com.

anyways, this is my reinvention of me, slowly navigating motherhood with my eccentric scamp, juggling a beautiful but challenging relationship along with soon planning a wedding and my getting back to CHAKA. oh yeah and did i mention trying to move out of my in laws house and getting some kind of job...or income. (p.s. i love to draw!!!)

phew! :D
